Extra-dimensions and
the Miraculous
A historical and biological fact is when
humans are struggling to survive, when they are needing to suffer through and
adapt to harsh conditions, their innate gift for ingenuity is heightened. Is
also common knowledge that when people are especially privileged, not needing
to worry about their needs and wants, they tend to become complacent. For the
faithful one, these days of quarantine during the covid pandemic should inspire
one to renew their mind and seek after discovering new ways of presenting the
good news of Jesus Christ to a generation lacking in trust and hope.
In this skeptical age where many, for good
reason, are untrusting of the so-called experts, those who truly trust in
Christ must take the initiative to study the higher sciences for themselves.
Readers should not be surprised to discover the skeptical experts have been
presenting their biased view, while disregarding the overwhelming discoveries
pointing towards the one true God of the Bible.
The common argument against Biblical miracle
claims is only natural events can occur in this natural realm. Though this is a
common-sense argument the skeptic is not considering the known existence of
realms beyond the observable universe. Recent discoveries in physics have
presented the Christian with an opportunity to explain how miracles are
possible if one can present evidence for there being a realm beyond the
observable natural one. This evidence points towards the Triune God, for no
other known concept of God is aligned with the evidence. There are many
arguments for the validity of miracles, and there are many religious people and
pagans alike who have argued for the credibility of miracles. Perhaps the
skeptic would be willing to consider the possibility what is referred to as
miraculous in our realm has a perfectly good scientific explanation, yet to be
discovered, because physicists have yet to reconcile the spooky discoveries in
quantum physics with the known “natural” laws of physics. When attempting to
argue for the only credible miracles being attributed to the Biblical God one
must explain why this is the one true God.
There are discoveries in physics supported by
discoveries in advanced geometry, which help add credibility to the Christian
perspective of God and miracles. These discoveries in the higher sciences serve
to provide the Christian with a logical way of describing the uniqueness of the
Triune God and serves to help one present a more rational argument for the
possibility of miracles attributed to Christ. The Big Bang alone proves a good
starting point in defense of Christianity for physicists were not blind to the
fact if the universe had a beginning one would not be irrational to believe God
was the cause.[1] However, there are other arguments the
Christian apologist can form based on mathematics and physics to persuade the
skeptic into reconsidering the historical evidence for Christ miracles.
Scientists have felt compelled to discover an
equation explaining how all the forces of nature operate, and for evidential
reasons they have concluded the best way to explain the observable universe is
to factor in the existence of extra-dimensions.[2] The skeptical naturalist consistently claims miracles are impossible
because they are contrary to nature, yet for the physicist the answers to why
nature even exists can only be discovered by reaching beyond the observable
realm, for this is where the evidence leads. There are four fundamental forces
that came into being at the start of the universe, the strong nuclear force,
electromagnetic, weak nuclear, and the weakest being the gravitational force.[3] The atheistic evolutionist does not consider
these four forces when claiming naturalistic laws prove miracles are
impossible. This can be said because physicists have
discovered gravity is so distinct from the stronger forces the scientist is
“forced” to look far beyond the observable realm, onto higher dimensions to
discover how gravity relates with the other three forces.[4] (Perhaps forced is not the right word,
but more so at this point of scientific discovery one feels naturally
compelled to follow the evidence towards the supernatural, or otherwise choose
to become quite imaginative with speculations about advanced aliens and the fun
idea of the multiverse.)
The
naturalist claims the answers to life can be discovered only by studying what
can be observed in nature, however scientists have discovered there are colors
undetectable by the human eye, because our eyes were designed to only observe
what can be seen in the three-dimensional realm.[5] The astrophysicist who factors extra-dimensions
into their equations presupposes there exists a reality beyond what can be
observed. Considering the problem with regards to gravity physicists must
factor in there being at least a fourth dimension, and they consider the realm
beyond the observable one to be more fundamentally real, thus our universe is
like a projection from, thus dependent on, the higher dimension.[6] This would be in accordance with the
Christian belief in the greater reality being in the eternal realm, from which
comes the cause our observable universe is dependent on. Gravity, according to
M-theory, can jump between dimensions by a means faster than the speed of
light, and this would be the case because gravity is not simply bound by laws
in the observable realm.[7] Despite the naturalist skeptic giving no
consideration to discoveries in physics when arguing against the possibility of
miracles, these rational thinkers give no regard to the greatest discoveries in
their own field of study. What has been observed in DNA and the many other
discoveries in micro-biology clearly shows signs of complex design, for even the chance of a single functioning protein coming into
being apart from a Designer is less than one out of trillion trillion, thus the
experts in biology know the complex building blocks of life coming into being
by chance is impossible.[8] The faithful intellectual is not the one
guilty of trying to fit God into what science discovers, but it would seem the
naturalist is guilty of trying to avoid where the evidence leads.
The Inimitable God
The Christian should
consider how the belief in the Trinity is supported by discoveries in advanced
mathematics. In this natural realm there are individual objects and living
beings separated from one another, but advanced geometry shows how in the
fourth-dimension multiple shapes can be one, as observed in a hypercube.[9] A
recent experiment confirms one can observe the three-dimensional shadow cast by
a fourth-dimensional object, thus what scientists call the quantum hall effect
provides further evidence for a fourth spatial dimension.[10] The
triune God is unique to Christianity, and this idea of three persons equaling
one being would at first seem illogical, however knowledge of the
fourth-dimension has provided evidence in support of the triune God being
logically possible.
When
arguing truly supernatural miracles can only be demonstrated by the Biblical
God the Christian can refer to how no other religion describes a God with
identifiable features suitable for a supreme extra-dimensional being. Experts
in other fields of study may still try to argue in some way against the
inimitability of the Christian concept of God, but the expert in advanced
mathematics would have to disagree with them. Since the concept of the Trinity
was known before any evidence discovered for a fourth dimension the Christian
can argue for this knowledge being credited to divine revelation, for the early
Christians would have no need to make up what would be seen in their day as an
impossible concept.
Only the
Creator of the natural laws is not bound by them and thus God must have
purposeful reasons when superseding the natural laws as was the case with the
incarnation and resurrection of Christ. Considering how
easily an author can write themselves into their novel while at the same time
only truly living in the natural realm one should consider the
possibility a Triune God beyond the natural boundaries would for good reason
enter this realm to personally interact with His creation. Gravity is dependent
on unknown laws of physics seemingly connected to the fourth dimension. A
fourth dimensional being would observe our universe as a completed story easily
seeing all from the beginning to the end, thus one can imagine the fourth
dimension is a kind of control center for our observable universe, or the
projection booth if you will. The “block universe” theory in physics argues for
the past, present, and future coexisting and from God’s perspective outside of
space and time this would make sense.[11] The faithful astrophysicist could refer to
how gravity is believed to be a force capable of traveling from one dimension
to another, thus though we depend on gravity, gravity is independent from our
perceived reality. If this is possible for such a weaker force, than an extra-dimensional
being having the ability to travel from a higher dimension into ours is
logically possible.
A
Miracle is Only a Miracle in this Realm
A Miracle is a
supernatural event occurring in the natural realm, and if there are realms
beyond human observation supernatural interactions in the natural realm are not
impossible. One can observe the shadow of a four-dimensional object; therefore,
one can presume extra-dimensional beings could exist despite being impossible
to see in this realm. For example, astronomers often come across strange
singularities when observing peripheral stars in distant galaxies, invisible
matter recognized as real because of its unusual “gravitational influence” on
the star.[12]
Considering the evidence for complex design combined with knowing there are
unobservable extra-dimensional realms, and the strange unseen singularities
only recognized because of gravity, the Christian faith is not more irrational
than the faith of those who trust only in naturalistic causes and random
chance.
From God’s
perspective the universe we now inhabit could have been like a blank canvas for
His great workmanship, and the universe could have been as fun and easy for Him
to create as drawing a two-dimensional face on a chalk board would be for a
four-year-old. Since one can observe the limits of what humans can create is
based on what can be observed and understood in this natural realm, one must
conclude an extra-dimensional being would therefore not be bound by the laws in
our observable universe. Theoretically an extra-dimensional being would be
capable of more than us arrogant humans, therefore capable of interacting with
what exists in the lower dimension. From the perspective of the
three-dimensional being this interaction coming from an extra-dimensional being
would be perceived as supernatural, or as an unexplainable occurrence like what
has been observed with gravitational anomalies.
Naturally,
a human cannot create biological life from nothing because the human can only
work with the already formed material in this realm. Imagine a person creates a
robotic Pinocchio with artificial-intelligence, capable of walking,
communicating, and appearing to interact with others. Now the creator could
choose to destroy this puppet, but unlike in the original story, in the
“natural” realm we live this puppet could never become a real living boy.
After
examining the shadows of a fourth-dimension scientists recognize the freedom of
possibilities increases with each added dimension. One must factor in there
being at least ten dimensions to make any sense of the Big Bang, thus it seems
logically possible if intelligent humans can create something like a robotic
Pinocchio in this three-dimensional realm than any higher intelligence in the
next dimension could give life to their creation easier than a four-year-old
drawing a happy face with chalk. Miracles, acts superseding observable laws
done by a supreme extra-dimensional intelligence, is logically possible, for
based on what can be observed in the natural realm, and in view of what humans
have created, what is impossible for the creation is not impossible for the
Creator (Luke 18:27).
Summarizing
the Argument
- There
is evidence for there being extra-dimensions.
- God
must have certain characteristics credited to a being beyond the
observable three-dimensions.
- The
concept of the Trinity is logically possible and supported by the evidence
for there being extra dimensions.
- The
skeptic cannot place Christian related miracles like the resurrection into
the same category as all other miracle claims because the Triune God is
the only known deity who most qualifies as God.
- If
a weak force like gravity can travel from a higher dimension into a lower
dimension, what this force does supersedes natural explanation. This also
proves our realm is dependent on an extra-dimensional realm, for gravity
proves to be a force necessary for life to exist.
- The
skeptic cannot provide evidence against the existence of an
extra-dimensional God capable of superseding the natural laws in a lower
realm, and discoveries in science provide rational arguments for the
existence of the Biblical God.
